Logline: Agent Evie Harlowe, struggling after the loss of her husband, is forced back into active duty with the FBI when her sister is accused of killing a controversial Philanthropist in Delta County, Arkansas.

Credits: Written by Heather L. Tyler (a Pocahontas, AR native), directed by Gloria Iseli (King Chess), with Director of Photography D. Matt Jordan (Our Time Baylor Basketball). The film stars Heather L. Tyler (For All Mankind, The Bridge), Juliana Philippi (Do No Harm), Lauren McCullough (A Sister’s Grudge), Sara Sevigny (Empire, American Auto), Grace Shen (The Brothers Sun, Bardo) Sean Bolger (The InBetween, Twin Peaks) and Rex Tyler Samsel (postpartumm…).

Specs: Filmed on a $20K Micro Budget during the summer of writer/actor strikes using iPhone 14 Pros, Anamorphic (Sandmarc) lenses, with limited drone and GoPro shots. Shooting first took place in Pocahontas, Jonesboro & Little Rock Arkansas before returning for final shoot days in Los Angeles, where Tyler resides.

Synopsis: Former FBI Agent Evie Harlowe is stuck in a cycle of grief, a year after the tragic death of her husband. Just as she is beginning to navigate her new reality, a shocking family crisis thrusts her back into the high-stakes world of the FBI: Her sister is missing after being accused of murdering a prominent philanthropist in Delta County, Arkansas. Torn between her duty as an investigator and family loyalty, Harlowe must confront her personal demons while unraveling the truth behind the shocking accusation. As she delves deeper into the investigation, hard truths are revealed, forcing her to confront the shadows of her past in order to return to life.

Local Color and Notable Details: Independent films on tight budgets bring constraints and creativity. The team embraced a minimalist shooting style, utilizing iPhone 14 Pros, an anamorphic lens, and a GoPro to capture their vision. The DP flew his drone to capture stunning aerial footage. Family and friends contributed their homes, boats, woodlands, and cars. In a heartwarming gesture, The Downtown Playhouse in Pocahontas, Arkansas allowed the production to film a scene during their rehearsals, adding a touch of local authenticity and vibrancy that became a favorite moment in the film. Despite facing an array of challenges that seem almost comical in hindsight — thunderstorms, an earthquake, a COVID outbreak, writer/actor strikes, tsunami warnings and even a rare desert flood — the weeklong thunderstorms on the Arkansas River proved the greatest obstacle. Initially, two days were scheduled for a crucial scene, but the weather forced the crew to condense shooting into just three frantic hours. As ominous clouds loomed and lightning threatened, they captured as much footage as possible before making a hasty retreat to the dock. A fleeting break in the storm allowed the team to turn off the motor and glide in quietly in order to grab one final, essential close-up. Miraculously, it worked.
